COLLEGE MAGAZINE COMMITTEE:
The College Magazine Committee is responsible for collecting, editing, and publishing the annual college magazine that showcases student creativity, academic achievements, and institutional activities. It encourages writing, photography, and design skills among students while documenting the academic and cultural life of the institution. The committee ensures timely publication of high-quality content that reflects the college’s vision, values, and accomplishments.
The College Magazine Committee operates at the intersection of student expression, institutional documentation, and regulatory compliance, governed by the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016, UGC Guidelines on Student Welfare & NAAC Accreditation, and NEP 2020. Beyond producing an annual publication, the committee carries legal liability for content, must align with NEP’s multilingual and digital-first push, and directly feeds into NAAC’s student participation scoring.
Rules & Regulations
1) Statutory editorial composition — Chaired by the Principal/Vice-Principal, led operationally by a Faculty Convener/Chief Editor, with faculty section editors (language/subject-wise) and a full Student Editorial Board (Editor-in-Chief, section editors, design/photography lead, report coordinators).
2) Mandatory content sections — Every issue must include the Principal’s Address, Academic/Departmental Reports (IQAC, Research, Faculty Achievements), Co-curricular Reports (NSS/NCC/DLLE/Sports/Cultural), Student Literary Section, and Roll of Honor.
3) Editorial scrutiny and content prohibition — Every submission must pass faculty section editor review; content promoting hate speech, communal disharmony, political defamation, obscenity, or personal attacks is strictly prohibited.
4) Mandatory plagiarism checks — Articles, essays, and creative pieces must be checked for plagiarism, with original student work prioritized over internet-curated content.
5) NAAC Criterion 5.3.2 alignment — The magazine’s publication and student editorial board participation directly contribute to NAAC scores under student representation in co-curricular activities.
6) UGC copyright and attribution mandate — Credit must be explicitly given to student authors and visual artists; plagiarized content violates copyright guidelines and can draw institutional penalties.
7) NEP 2020 multilingual and digital-first mandates — The committee must dedicate equal space to Marathi, Hindi, and other regional languages (not treating them as secondary to English), feature Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) sections, and transition toward E-Magazines (flipbooks/interactive PDFs) under the green campus initiative.
8) Legal liability and IT compliance — The Principal and Chief Faculty Editor carry publisher legal liability under IPC Section 500/Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (defamation); digital publication must comply with the IT Act, 2000 on content, copyright, and identity protection, plus image consent/privacy norms for photography.
