CAREER GUIDANCE & PLACEMENT CELL

CAREER GUIDANCE & PLACEMENT CELL:

The Career Guidance & Placement Cell assists students in developing career readiness and securing employment opportunities. It provides career counseling, skill development training, aptitude preparation, and organizes campus recruitment drives. The cell bridges the gap between academics and industry by connecting students with recruiters and higher education opportunities. It aims to enhance employability, confidence, and professional growth.

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell has evolved into a statutory, compliance-driven committee whose performance directly affects NAAC grading, NIRF rankings, and university affiliation continuation. It operates under UGC mandates, NEP 2020 directives, and University of Mumbai operational rules, with responsibilities spanning employability training, mandatory internship tracking, and rigorous documentation for audits.

Rules & Regulations

1) Mandatory committee composition — Must include a senior faculty Convener/In-charge, teacher representatives across streams (Arts, Commerce, Science, IT), a full-time/designated Placement Officer, and active student coordinators.

2) Jeevan Kaushal (Life Skills) framework mapping — Pre-placement training must align with the UGC-specified Life Skills Curriculum, covering communication, digital literacy, resume-building, professional ethics, and interview etiquette.

3) Mandatory graduate tracking database — The cell must maintain a digital repository tracing every graduating student under three categories: Placed in Corporate, Progressed to Higher Education, or Turned Entrepreneur.

4) Mandatory internship sourcing under NEP — Internships are now compulsory for degree completion; the cell must actively source, validate, and monitor Summer/Winter Credit Internships for all UG students, not just final-year placements.

5) Support for multiple entry/exit points — The cell must build industry relationships catering to students exiting after Year 1 (Certificate) or Year 2 (Diploma) under the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) framework, ensuring even certificate/diploma holders get entry-level opportunities.

6) “One Student, One Job” fair-play policy — Once a student accepts an offer through the campus pool, they are generally barred from subsequent drives, except for a capped 1–2 additional attempts under the “Dream Company” tier.

7) Corporate scrutiny requirement — The cell must verify a recruiting company’s identity, minimum 3–5 years of active operational history, and financial legitimacy before permitting campus drives; third-party payroll recruiters are heavily restricted without parent company consent.

8) Mandatory documentation for CDC/NAAC audits — The cell must collect authenticated Appointment/Offer Letters from placed students, and maintain circulars, signed attendance sheets, and admission proofs as primary audit evidence for NAAC Criterion V (Student Support and Progression).
