ADMISSION COMMITTEE:
The Admission Committee is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the student admission process in a transparent and efficient manner. It ensures proper implementation of institutional and government admission guidelines, manages documentation, and assists students during enrollment. The committee works to maintain fairness, accuracy, and smooth functioning throughout the admission cycle while providing necessary guidance to applicants and parents.
The Admission Committee ensures undergraduate and postgraduate admissions are conducted with transparency and statutory compliance, drawing from University of Mumbai Circulars & Statutes, Maharashtra Government Reservation Policies, UGC Guidelines, and NEP 2020. Its scope now extends beyond traditional merit-list processing to cover ABC ID capture, stream-neutral eligibility, lateral entry equivalence, and dual-degree compliance.
Rules & Regulations
1) Mandatory committee composition — Chaired by the Principal/Vice-Principal, with a senior faculty Co-Convener/Member Secretary, faculty representation across streams, a Reservation Compliance/Liaison Officer (SC/ST/OBC faculty), and administrative support staff for portal/document verification.
2) Pre-admission portal registration — Applicants must register on the University of Mumbai Digital University/Pre-Admission Portal and select their college/course code before applying; the committee verifies online forms against original mark sheets and certificates.
3) Statutory reservation quota compliance — Admissions must adhere to Maharashtra’s fixed reservation percentages: SC 13%, ST 7%, VJ/DT-A 3%, NT-B/C/D 2.5%/3.5%/2%, OBC 19%, SBC 2%, EWS 10%, with remaining seats as Open/General; minority institutions reserve 50% for their specific community.
4) Merit list and tie-breaking protocol — Merit lists must be publicly displayed per Mumbai University’s schedule; ties are broken first by higher Major subject marks, then English marks, then date of birth/application timestamp.
5) Mandatory ABC ID/APAAR ID capture — Every FYUGP First Year student must possess a valid ABC ID/APAAR ID (via DigiLocker), which the committee must capture during admission form entry to enable credit transfer.
6) Stream-neutral eligibility verification — Under NEP 2020, the committee must verify eligibility based on learning outcomes rather than rigid stream boundaries (e.g., Commerce students opting for Data Science or Humanities minors).
7) Lateral entry and equivalence verification — Students entering 2nd or 3rd year laterally must produce an official NEP-framework exit certificate/diploma plus ABC credit report; the committee, with subject heads, must verify subject equivalence for transfer students from other universities.
8) Dual degree/simultaneous programme compliance — Per UGC regulations, students may pursue two programs simultaneously (physical + ODL, or two ODL); the committee must ensure no class timing overlap if both are in physical mode.
